De-Stress While You Breathe
Everyone is so busy these days. Getting the kids from school to after school activities or to soccer practice on time. Going to the dry cleaners or the market. Making sure to cook a healthy dinner that everyone will like. You get the idea though. Sometimes you just don’t seem to have enough time or energy to get it all done.
Have you ever noticed how it’s almost a given that when you are most stressed you don’t take time to breathe. Let me rephrase that. You don’t make it a habit to breathe properly. Well, I breathe all the time you say! Don’t I? I would fall down and pass out if I didn’t. Right? Ah, Grasshopper, in your stressed and rushed life I did not say you didn’t breathe. I merely stated you don’t make it a habit to breathe properly to De Stress. There is a definite difference.
For this discussion lets call it Western Breathing. You don’t even think about it. It just happens. Your parasympathetic nerve does it for you, like the pumping of your heart. You really don’t even think about it until maybe you stub your toe, or are about to get a shot from the doctor. Then you gear up and hold your breath as if it will magically stop the pain. Your breathing is just sort of shallow. It signals the fight or flight syndrome and makes your body pump out more Cortisol. That’s the nasty natural steroid that you produce when your body can’t decide what to do. Your body is once again STRESSED!!!
Let’s now focus of Mindful Breathing. Be aware that you are breathing while letting your body Refuel and Re Energize. Feel that relaxing breath that comes from your diaphragm. Hold it. Feel the Vibration and the fluttery little butterflies in your stomach. Then slowly bring that wonderful Healing Breath into your lungs and feel your lungs expand. Try visualizing a beautiful white light in that Healing, Energetic air. This is Healing Breath and it is so simple. Yet, we forget.
It’s amazing why so many people are so reluctant to learn how to meditate or breathe properly. To just let your body be. You don’t have to bend like a pretzel or need to learn how to levitate. Just learn to breathe the life back into your body in a Mindful, Purposeful way. It will truly make you feel more Energized, Patient, Peaceful, and yes, even more Beautiful.
Take time to take care of yourself. Respect yourself and Love yourself,
Be Well,
