Eating For The Greater Good
Eating For The Greater Good
During the Holiday Season many of us tend to eat more. However, we seem to forget to eat the nutritious foods or we eat very little of them. Here’s a list of a few fruits, veggies, and herbs you can add to your meals and make them a little healthier:
- Dark Chocolate
- Cucumber
- Chia Seeds
- Cranberries
- Pomegranates
- Tomatoes
- Yams
- Thyme
- Peppermint
Dark Chocolate, besides tasting good, contains serotonin, a mood elevator. Dark Chocolate also contains powerful antioxidants. It helps firm the skin, release toxins, and so much more. Enjoy your Dark Chocolate but remember to eat for your health...not the whole box.
Cucumber is not only healthy and tasty but it’s also really hydrating and contains vitamins B and C, Zinc, Iron, Folic Acid, Calcium, Magnesium, and Potassium. Besides your smoothies, green drinks and salads, Cucumber is very popular in Spas because of its Anti Inflammatory properties. It’s so good sliced and chilled in water and so calming when placed over your eyes.
Chia Seeds are small but mighty. These little guys will not only fight Radical Damage but also helps with weight loss, lowering blood sugar, and lowering cholesterol. They are a great source of protein and can replace eggs in baking. You can find tons of recipes on line. Add them to your daily drinking water or soups and make sure you soak them before consuming.
Cranberries are high in Vitamin C and Phytonutrient rich. Cranberries are considered a powerhouse fruit.
Pomegranates are polyphenol rich with high levels of antioxidants. Even higher than Green Tea and Pomegranates are perfect for flu season.
Tomatoes are a natural antioxidant and rejuvenator. They provide lycopene, beta-hydroxyl acids and combats skin aging.
Yams are also an antioxidant and are age defying. Yams infuses the skin with Beta Carotene, antioxidants, and Vitamin B6.
Thyme is another antioxidant and rejuvenator. It retards the effects of free radicals and assists in cellular renewal. It also calms the epidermis (your top layer of skin).
Peppermint is an anti bacterial as well as an antioxidant. It soothes and heals your skin, lifts your moods, combats free radicals, and supplies Vitamins A and C. If you love the smell of peppermint try adding peppermint essential oil (1-2 drops) to your bottled water. It can be so refreshing. Also try peppermint tea in the morning instead of coffee.
This is just a short list of ways you can improve your health and energy through the food you eat. The lists are endless. When you reach out for health you will be amazed at how much better you will feel.
Thank you all so much for your support throughout the year. Lets all look forward to a healthier 2020.
Be Well,
