Healthy Gratitude
Personal health is something too many people take for granted. Unfortunately most people are conditioned by society to over eat and over indulge. We take for granted that we can take the extra weight off anytime we want and at the same time we think we are invincible in health matters.
I think it’s time for all of us to realize that our health really does matter... at any age. I have seen far too many younger clients have illnesses you might expect at a more advanced age. They eat well but still stress too much. I have clients that don’t exercise enough and take too many medications just because it’s easier. It’s not!
It’s not just about the weight and it’s not just about our state of mind. We have to really start focusing on the whole picture. Mind, Body, and Spirit.
Mind your mind. What is your mind usually thinking about? Where does your mind wonder to? Are you too stressed about home or work? If so try to counter balance that by doing fun things that make you laugh and realize that more worrying does not mean more problem solving. It just means more worrying. Focus on the present and be grateful for your accomplishments. Show gratitude for what you have everyday.
Mind your Body. Are you getting enough exercise? Going for a fifteen or twenty minute walk will not only work wonders on your waistline but on your stress level too. Stretching and breath work will help give you more healthy movement and give you a mental lift for the day. Having no time in the morning is not a good excuse. Stretch and do your breathing exercises before you go to bed. I bet you’ll have a more peaceful sleep and dream beautiful dreams.
Mind your Spirit. Things may not always be easy but most of us have it so much easier than so many others. Remind yourself by writing down a gratitude list so you can see your blessings in black and white.
Recently I saw a young woman on the internet with a debilitating physical illness. Both of her hands are completely deformed and useless and at her young age of thirteen years old she is going blind in her right eye. She has such a well balanced soul and is so full of love that she is a very infectious person that radiates positive emotions. She truly warmed my heart and made me count my blessings.
We all need encouragement. Share a hug or a smile with someone who might need it. You may be the only person to show that person a positive feeling. It will lift your Spirits too.
Be well,
Tana
