Review, Renew, and Embrace the New You!
It happens every new year. We make promises to ourselves with the best of intentions. Lose weight, exercise more, and be more productive. Then by February we lose our focus and our goals simply get lost. Not this year though.
This year make time to sit down and really look at what your goals are. Act as though you are helping your best friend. Be honest and supportive. Are your goals too high? You can break them down into smaller steps and get refocused.
If your goal is to lose twenty pounds start with five pounds and change your focus to eating healthier. Be determined to eat more lean protein, more fruit, and more vegetables. Find a new sport or hobby that you really enjoy doing so that you will look forward to the next session. Try not looking at the scale everyday but think about how much better your clothes fit or how much energy you have or even how much better you are sleeping.
Did you know that walking fifteen minutes to a half hour a day will help to increase your circulation and help your metabolism. While you are walking you can listen to a book that you’ve been wanting to read, which in turn might encourage you to walk a little longer to finish an interesting chapter. There are so many options.
Make sure you have a container ready to handle all the clothes that no longer fit. It is way too easy to self sabotage yourself and hang onto a pair of jeans or a comfy sweater. Remember that comfort food helped you to hold onto or gain the extra pounds to begin with. When your container is full you can take it to a Goodwill or a local church where the clothes will be given to someone who needs them more than you. If you keep unused things too long they take away important energy that you need to embrace the new you. When you don’t buy the fast food or junk food you won’t tempt yourself to “feel like junk” and when you take away what is challenging you, you can gain back your self control. Now, don’t you feel better already?
Focus on doing things that make you happy and above all focus on your health. Try different things and see what works for you. Too many times we don’t want to look at ourselves and we actually accept failure when it hasn’t even happened. Face the mirror at least once a day and tell yourself you are proud of YOU! You deserve it.
You have heard me say some of this before but I truly feel it is important enough to repeat. I care about you and want you to put your best self forward everyday in every way. It can change your life.
So again, Review, Renew, and Embrace the NEW YOU,
Be well,
Tana
