Taking Care Of Yourself

February is the month of love. It’s that special time of year when we show others how much we love them. It’s great to love others but it’s very important not to put yourself last. You need to love yourself too!

One of the best ways to love yourself is to take care of yourself. Mind, body, and soul.

There are many ways to do little treats to really pamper yourself so you feel good. When you feel good you lower your stress level and that goes a long way toward improving your health. Going for walks is a great way to relax and enjoying the outdoors is a good thing. You can also benefit with heart healthy power walking, jogging, or running. It doesn’t hurt to enjoy losing a few pounds along the way. After all, the more you have around your middle the more you need to chisel. Help yourself out by eating smaller portions and less processed foods. You’ll definitely feel better and have a lot more energy. Eat lots of different colored fruits and vegetables. Be open to trying new foods so you don’t get bored easily.

Always drink lots of water (64 oz daily) so you keep your body hydrated on a cellular level and maintain the feeling of being fuller longer. The water also keeps a healthy looking glow to your skin and minimizes the effects of aging. Water is truly like a fountain of youth in a bottle. If you don’t like the taste of water you can always add a little fruit or sliced lemons with cucumber and mint for a refreshing spa type water. You can also add some Chia seeds which are a super protein. Whatever you do make sure you drink water and not soda, coffee, or energy drinks.

Here’s a small thing that’s of big importance. Focus on your breathing. I know it sounds crazy but a lot of people don’t breathe right. They tend to exhale deep breathes only when instructed to by a doctor or yoga instructor. Our breathing is a lifeline which we control. Try to be mindful to do deep breathing a least three times a day. Soon you’ll get the hang of it and be amazed at how much more energized you’ll feel. Then it will be more natural and not so forced.

Taking care of yourself is very important. When you think about it we can do without food much longer than we can do without air or water and we have to constantly be reminded of what our bodies need. Remember, we are our own true masters and need to take control and responsibility for our actions and for our own bodies.

Take care of yourself. You deserve it!

Be well,

Tana
